Week 38: Brevard, NC

We went on this sweet waterfall hike with the elders today. Turns out we already went to it a month ago, but it's alright because the Henningson's weren't there, or the sisters, so we speed ran it. We posted up on Tokyo Toybox after. The three people that work there are our homies now, so we went and talked to them about Pokemon and stuff. In the night time we were trying to contact this referral named Valerie. She'd been referred to us like seven times, but she finally answered her phone and wanted us to come by. The address she gave us went to this ghetto halfway house and we couldn't find anyone there so we just went walking around the neighborhood. We circled around eventually and saw a couple ladies by the house, so we were like ight, we'll go see if they know Valerie. Turns out one of them was her and we were able to teach her about the Book of Mormon. Not gonna lie, I thought she sounded like a black lady on the phone and can now surely say that she is not black.

We had another lesson with Bruce today. We talked a lot about the tree of life and read 1 Nephi 8. After the lesson we hit a bunch of people up, no one showed any interest. We visited this referral address and some goofy lady walked out and handed us this generic saved by grace Bible pamphlet and went back in. Dropped that goofy lady. That's about it, we had Fuji's tonight ayyyyy.

Back to the islands! Elder Richin's and I ran the Micronesian branch today and did a ton of stuff. We had this massive tropical fish that a member gave us, so we went knocking on some Micronesians' doors to see who would tell us how to cook it. Eventually this member just cooked it for us with some rice, which was lit. After we feasted on the fish, we went over and taught this lady who only speaks Pohnpeian, so I just sat there lookin' handsome.
We had two more Micronesian households that we went and taught lessons to. We pretty much just showed up with this member Jason, and he taught them the whole time. It was honestly such a fun day though. I got bounteous amounts of rice and fried chicken.

It was a good day. We visited Brother Lowery, one of the older gents who watches Zoom church because of his health. We were able to talk to Ashley and David quick before they had to go to the school. We had this amazing lesson with Patricia, who was this referral from a lil ways back. We told her lots about the Book of Mormon and structure of the church. She's moving soon, so we're gonna help her with that and then she said she'd feed us. That's about it.

We got a referral from this lady Elaine Weeks, who lives like 30 minutes away up in the mountains, we tried calling and texting her but no answer, so we pulled up. As we're rolling up it's this massive mansion with a huge yard and a bunch of workers renovating it. We talked to one of the boys and he said the owner was over across this massive field. So we were walking over and the guy was just blowing some leaves in his yard. His name is Grady and he was super nice. We were like, "So this is your house.." and he was like "Yeah, one of them." Turns out he's this mega rich homie from Texas and he has houses all over. He told us he didn't have a church or anything, but his wife Elaine is Catholic. Anyways, he was just a cool guy. Did a couple other things and then had dinner with the Miller's at the Hart's house.

Today was way fun. We went over real early to Rosman Elementary to help Alyssa move some stuff in her classroom to get things ready for the first week of school. It was lit just chillin in the classroom, everyone having a good time. After that they took us to Acapulco!, which is this lil Mexicano restaurant in Rosman. Had a good lesson with Bruce. Nothing crazy, just an old Baptist guy. Pretty much it.

Church! After Sister Powers, a bunch of random contacts. Later in the day we pulled up to Brevard College campus and started walking around. After a couple seconds these two classic NC freshman homies came up to us. We told them we were missionaries and they said, "Oh sick, we have a whole room of people you can talk to!" They let us in their dorm common room and there was probably like 15 giga chads walking around and a bunch of girls too. So yeah, we pretty much preached to them about the Book of Mormon for 15 minutes, it was fun.
