Week 35: Brevard, NC

It was a pretty chill p-day. We went up to the Dick's sporting goods in Hendersonville to return some stuff. A little tempted to buy some cleats and go play football for Rosman High School. Oh wait, then I remembered I don't like football. Haha nah, I loved smoking kids on the field with Dunc, Mat, and Gabe. Also, our tiwi wasn't working, so we were whipping around town going like 80mph in a 25. Just kidding, but it was fun to whip it. It was a fun rest of the day hanging with everyone.

Yea it was a pretty decent day. We had district council, and then off to finding, baby. We talked to a couple chill homies, but no one was really interested. Later in the day we helped Brother and Sister Hart move this absolute tank of a door. The door was for their front entrance and it probably weighed 400-500 lbs, it was ridiculous. It took us about 45 minutes to get it lifted up their porch and set into place. After that we went to Fuji's!

We were walking through a trailer park in Rosman, when we started talking to these lil kids. They lived in this nasty trailer, but they came out and showed us all of their Pokemon cards, which was dope.
We taught Bruce about baptisms for the dead, and tied it into the Plan of Salvation. Bruce told us it brings him hope and peace to know his brother can still be baptized. We had Brother Hart there with us, and we testified pretty much the whole time about how he can and needs to be a part of it.
It went really well and then later we had dinner with the Jones'. Sister Jones is into this thing called sacred geometry, which is pretty wack, but cool though. She pretty much tells you more about yourself than even you know. She gave us a book she wrote and signed it and everything. But not gonna lie, I have no clue what it's talking about.

We met this really cool lady named Ashley today. We knocked on her trailer door and she came out and said she couldn't even hear the knock. So pretty much I got roasted for being weak by her and Elder Steiner, but she was super funny. We told her about the church and she said she'd love if we came back. Did a bunch of other finding stuff for the rest of the day. Finished it off with dinner with Alyssa, Leland, and my boy, Roy.

The service went crazy today. We had Bread of Life and then Brother Thompson needed some help at his place. Brother Thompson is this older gentleman that lives in Connestee Falls, in this absolutely massive rich, gated community. Anyways, Brother Thompson is an interesting fella. Apparently he's been knighted and given medals from like 25 royals in Europe. He has something like four PhD's and a bunch of other crazy achievements. He showed us his massive collections, which had knight armor, swords, and Samurai stuff from the 1500's. He had a bunch of other stuff from the World Wars and pretty much everything else rare in the world.
After we left there, the Onderdonk's invited us to Twin Dragon Chinese Buffett for Skyler's birthday party. Not gonna lie, the sushi and crawdad's probably weren't the move. Never trust a massive Chinese Buffett in North Carolina, and especially don't eat two full sushi rolls. It was pretty hype though, I sat next to Skyler the whole time, and we talked about Roblox and Pokemon the whole time.

So we pulled up on Juanita today and the first thing she said was, "Are you guys like a cult?" Yea, so that's lit. We talked to this classic Southern Baptist family for about an hour, which was fun. Actually never mind, I think they were Pentecostal, but went to a Baptist church, which made no sense. But that's how it is out here. Bro was saying some blasphemy about running and shouting and feeling the Holy Ghost and that kind of stuff.
We were in Rosman, so of course we stopped by good old Bruce's, but he didn't answer. It's kind of tough because that broke our perfect 13 lesson streak with him. We ain't worried though, he was probably asleep.

So after sacrament today we taught this guy named Ramses. He's this homie who has been friends with all the music camp kids, and they've brought him to church a couple times. Today was their last day though and they asked if we'd teach him a little before he goes back home, so we did. It was a really cool lesson, and really we all just testified of the Church and Book of Mormon. He was like "Aight sick, I want to learn more." He's moving home to Arizona so it'll be on easy with the missionaries down there. After that we did sacrament for Sister Power's and had a cool talk with Ashley.
