Week 32: Brevard, NC

July 10, 2023

Good p-day. Didn't do a ton until later on, Elder Steiner and I pulled up to the Blue Ridge Mountain lookout spots. Crazy beautiful. 

July 11, 2023

We started it out with district council in Hendersonville. The room we usually used smelled stanky like pee or something so we used the gym. The social media missionaries did this lil training over Zoom, which was hype. After DC we pulled up to Wendy's and got some food. We went over to David's today and talked with him for a while. He's got this sweet manacle with all these guns, knives, pictures, fishing poles, and Harley Davidson stuff on the walls. We had a good lesson with Matthew today as well. Taught a lot about the Plan of Salvation. He brought up some Apocrypha stuff that supported the premortal life, which was wack. Went and had steak and shrimp at Fujis with Sister Payne for dinner. 

July 12, 2023

It was a pretty busy day. We got Sister Payne some chocolate and brought it to her at the fruit stand. She exchanged it for some peaches and a watermelon, haha. After a minute this random homie pulled up to the stand in a battle bus. His name was Rocky Beach and he said he wanted missionaries to visit his sister in Asheville. He told us he'd been praying for a while now to run into missionaries and he saw us at the fruit stand so he pulled up. Weird guy, but cool interaction. 

Then we met Brother Hart at a gas station in Rosman to team up with a lesson for Bruce, but Bruce wasn't home so we pulled up to Brady's place. Brady has been acting kind of weird lately and as we talked to him, he seemed pretty off. Good to see him, though. 

We went back and had a great lesson with Bruce and Brother Hart. We taught the Restoration and Bruce comprehended well, but said he hadn't received a witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. We testified of the power of it and he told us he would read it through, and if he still doesn't know it's true, he'll start over and read it again. 

After that, we went and helped Alyssa clean out her house in Rosman. On the way home, we gave Brother Cleveland a blessing for his eyes.

July 13, 2023

We had interviews with the Barlow's today, which went well. We got to do one with President Barlow where we pretty much talked about Preach My Gospel the whole time, and then one with Sister Barlow, where she got to know us. Good stuff, and then we went and had a BBQ with Nora later in the day. We roasted up some good old dogs on her grill and just hung out for a while. We taught her a lot more about the Book of Mormon, but didn't make much progress spiritually. She goes to the old Church of God in Hendersonville, literally adjacent to the LDS church there. It was a fun time though, and we built our relationship.

July 14, 2023

We served at Bread of Life today for a couple of hours. Homie Michael gave Elder Steiner the conversation on the "living wage" of people living in Transylvania county. Bro pretty much says the way to eliminate poverty is to raise minimum wage and that's it. He gave a 30 minute lecture about the politics and then solved it with "Raise minimum wage!" Pretty garbage. But we did a monkey ton of finding today. 

Also, somehow Carlos resurfaced like a dead fish or something, so we called him today. Turns out he's in the exact same position as one month ago and just as weird. 

Sister Harris, the absolute angel, made us an amazing dinner tonight. 

July 15, 2023

I was with Elder Richins today because we had exchanges. It was an aight day. We had a really good lesson with Bruce today, we taught more of the Plan of Salvation and filled his mind with real truths. It's been interesting to see the subtle changes in his perspectives and beliefs in relation to the Spirit World and other stuff like that. We've found some tiny holes in his massive Southern Baptist wall that's built up, and we're getting to him. He is making progress slowly, but it's there. 

Then we went and helped Alyssa with her house for a while and then talked to this cool lady named Juanita. She's taking care of her daughter's three kids and is going to adopt them soon. Pretty sad situation, but it was good to talk with her for a minute. That's about it, but it was a good day.

Yeah so we went to Church and then took the sacrament to Sister Powers, and that's about all.
