Week 31: Brevard, NC

July 3, 2023

So we pulled up to Hendersonville today to hang out with the Elders. The sisters are always like "you guys never invite us," but we did and they didn't show up to yeah. We played some tennis and pickleball in the 90 degree, 90% humidity weather, which flipping' stank, but it was fun. Donnabagley6@gmail.com called us again and this time she was talking about how she's a fairy godmother and how there is gonna be another ice age. Wild stuff.

In the evening we pulled up and played softball with the Micronesians, which was sooo fun. There was probably like 100 of them just posted up listening to music and playing softball. I hit a couple dinners and caught a couple nukes in the outfield. Best compliment I've had is one Polynesian homie saying he'd never seen a pweche pwech (preach preach) run that fast before in his life. Super fun time.

Our prediction for today was that everyone was going to be hanging out with family and want nothing to do with us. It was pretty accurate. Anyways from the start we had District Council, which went great. Elder Greenhalgh shared the clip from Sandlot with the fireworks, and he got us hyped to live in America and it was sweet.

It was a really slow day for the most part, but towards the evening we all felt like we should pull up on Nora. We hadn't talked to her in weeks but showed up to her house and she was home! When we got there, she said she'd got home like five minutes ago and she was happy to see us. We just visited for a while. She invited us to come have a BBQ with her in a couple of weeks. We went and got CookOut for dinner for some reason, and then pulled up to the church. We have a field next to the church and there was like 20 fatty jacked up trucks lined up posted up for fireworks. We had to be in our apartment so we didn't see any but it sounded like WWII out there.

We did a bunch of finding in the ol Rosman trailer parks and talked to some cool homies. We met two separate Mexican bros both named Fernando, the battle bus driver Juan, and this bro CJ. Then we went and had a really good lesson with Bruce in the afternoon. We taught him about the Plan of Salvation, specifically about the Spirit World and he really liked it. He told us he'd been taught his whole life that his friends who have committed suicide or who weren't baptized are going to Hell, and we pretty much told him how stupid that is and taught the truth. The Spirit was strong and he was getting a little teared up. He also told us that he'd felt like we've been friends a lot longer than this.

After Bruce, we went back to clown town and met Trevor. He is Brother Martinez's nephew or something, which is crazy but he was cool. On the way home we saw this homie ballin up at the Silvermont carts so we went and balled with him for a minute. Super cool guy, had a wack name that I can't remember. Good day though.

It was a pretty mid day honestly. We did some work and in the evening we had dinner with the Hart's and Alyssa. We worked on getting a date to go and do baptisms for the dead with her at the Atlanta Georgia temple, and we're aiming for the beginning of August.

We went and visited good ol Eric Fisher today and it didn't go too hot. We pulled up and his mom was smoking on the porch and she peeked in the door and said "Come end it..." Homie Eric comes out and tells us that he isn't interested in learning about our church, and doesn't believe what we believe. Bro didn't even read the Book of Mormon once and got anti-ed by his mommy. He pretty much said my mommy said I can't talk to you guys.

We had Pon de Vida (Bread of Life) today. I met probably my 8th fat, shirtless dude today knocking doors. All he said was, "I'm fixing to head out soon." Bro didn't even have a shirt on. After that we went and knocked some apartments. In the evening we went to Sister Cleveland's 80th birthday party.

So Elder Brown and I went on an exchange in Hendersonville today. First off I had to drive their Tacoma because it was the ZL's and Elder Brown's last transfer. Started off with personal study and Elder Brown going nasty with the Kendama. We went to a ward BBQ at this park, which was way fun. After that we were supposed to have a lesson with this lady, but she was sick, so we pulled up to Sister Reifshneider's house and hung out for a while. Next we pulled up to these lil homies house King and Royal. They are brothers, I think like ages 10 and 12, but they got baptized a while back and we were just checking in on them to see how they're doing.

We ended up playing some football with them and their cousin Kevin for like 45 minutes. Later in the day we had a lesson with this other member and then another Hawaiian member. It was mad funny, she was going nuts flaming Elder Brown and she gave me a sweet bracelet. It was a blessing getting to go on one more exchange with Elder Brown before he goes home. I love that lil g. He was my district leader in Lebanon, my first transfer, and he's always been a huge influence on my missionary work.

We had almost 100 people at church again this week, which was nuts. We blessed the sacrament and then after church, this girl from the music camp who'd hurt her wrist asked for a blessing. After that we went and did sacrament for Sister Powers and then she asked for a blessing, and then after that we went to Alyssa's and gave her the sacrament because she didn't get it. Did some other stuff, but that was pretty much it.
