Week 28: Brevard, NC

June 12, 2023

It was a pretty chill P-day. We went up to Hendersonville and I bought a little beater acoustic guitar so I can learn some hymns and stuff on it. Also so I can jam a bit haha. We got clean cuts by this lady Kimberly in Hendo. Not gonna lie, this is probably the best cut of my mission second to the buzz. After that, we went to Arden's apartment but they weren't there, so we went to Hendo's, but same thing. Turns out they were playing tennis like some goons :-| . Our district is really good.

We had one last District Council today. Four out of Eight are leaving, which is crazy, but this was such a tight district. The Henningson's made cinnamon rolls and some might say they are comparable to Cinnabon. We went with Arden to Wendy's after DC, and low-key got basted by some bozo. We were just enjoying some yummy $5 bundles and hearty conversation when this old bro pulled up to the table. He said some nonsense, but yea Wendy's was good. We did a bunch of finding for the rest of the day and gave a couple Books of Mormon to some folks. I was about to flippin' crash on the couch, but I arose, folded my laundry, and wrote in my journal, because I'm responsible.

I went pretty slow at first today. We were were doing really good and then somehow we both died on the couch for a good hour. Two different couches. I think that's the fist real nap I've taken on my mission so far. We had to wake up somehow and were mad hungry, so we went to Zaxby's. After that we went down to Rosman to talk with Bruce. He was chopping some firewood so we helped him for a minute and then had a good talk with him. We went finding for a while and after a bit we decided to go to the Tiger Store in Rosman. We talked to the cashier, Bella, who said she never heard of our church or the Book of Mormon and would love to read it. She's this younger girl, probably like in her 20's, or something but said she'd read it, so that's very cool. Later in the night we went over to Alyssa, Leland, and Roy's to help them fix a porch light and tune Leland's guitar. They've got a little summer music camp in Brevard for kids, so I'm gonna teach Leland a lil Jimi Hendrix to flex on all the other bros.

It was a pretty long day today, not gonna lie. We're driving down to Knoxville tomorrow for transfers and today lasted forever. We got out at around 12:00 and did finding until about 4:00 and then it started dumping rain. Homie Zeus had pity on us because it was dumping fat sheets of rain and the loudest lightning we have ever heard for about an hour. After it stopped, we got back to it for a while until it started again, so we were like nah, we're done, so we walked around Ingle's, this ghetto food store. We had dinner with the Miller's and Elder Tubbs said goodbye to them. Suuuper long day, but pretty productive, we found some cool people who want to read the Book of Mormon. I don't think Elder Tubbs is gonna miss Brevard because this place STANKS sometimes.

We drove all the way up to Knoxville today for transfers and then back with Elder Steiner. Probably totaled out to be about six hours of driving. We went and helped Sister Swaringen clean the church when we got back to Brevard. Sister Harris made us some amazing dinner and then we whipped this joint into shape. We cleaned the apartment up pretty well, just starting off right.

It was a busy day and we got a lot done. We met this old lady Judy Tipsword who was sitting on her porch soaking up the sun, listening to reggae and smoking fat ciggys. She was such a funny lady, just chillin' like a g. She said she loves to read and would read the ol' Mormon Bible. After that we had a good visit with the Bakers. They have dog named Pippy, but she's like 20x the size of the real Pippy. Also their fake Pippy is only four years old, but our real Pippy's got her gapped by like 10 years or something, so sit down fake Pippy. The Baker's are cool though. The elders quorum in Brevard had a lil BBQ activity at the church, which was heat. There was like seven people, including us, and we just eatin' some chicken and pulled pork with the men. Average age was approximately 65-70+ with Brother Wilcox as an exception, so it was way fun. All them just cracking jokes the whole time, talking about how they need to stand up and move around so their backs don't hurt. That's about all the fun we had today, talked to a lot of people though.

Sacrament meeting was quite splendid. It was actually pretty wack, the kids who go to the Brevard Music Summer Camp came to church so we had about 35 people there. We helped out in Primary and made Father's Day cards. We usually teach the older kids after singing time and this one lil homie Skyler Onderdonk, was in our class. He's autistic and a lot of times at church he goes crazy, but today bro went berserk. He was watching Power Rangers and we were like "Skyler you need to pay attention, because there's gonna be a quiz," and he didn't like that and started stomping on his Kindle and smashed it. He's a good little guy though, he usually just talks about Roblox for 30 minutes straight.

Later we had lunch with the Miller's and then walked Tamara's dog. Tamara wanted us to come feed the geese with her, so we were like uh ight, and we sat there for 30 minutes while she talked to the geese and went through a whole loaf of bread. It was pretty slow for the rest of the day, just did some finding.
