Week 27: Brevard, NC

June 5, 2023

We went up to Triple Falls with the district, and the Henningson's, who are the senior couple, came too. It was a sick waterfall though, only about a 30 minute hike. Elder McClellan almost broke himself slipping and falling in the waterfall, but it was funny and he survived. Another P-day going by way too quick. 

June 6, 2023

I gave a crazy good training in District Council about the Book of Mormon. We did lots of finding and went to dinner with Sister Payne at Fuji Yamas. That shrimp and steak with rice hits different after a long day of nothing. 

June 7, 2023

It was a really good day today. We had a lesson with Bruce, the 85 year old we gave the Book of Mormon to a while back. He said he's read half of it and likes it so far. We asked if he's prayed and he said he has and hasn't had a reason not to keep reading. Good stuff for Bruce. He was talking about Adam and Eve and how there's a reason Adam came first and how women are the toughest thing God did to man. Bruce has got some other interesting views, but he's cool. We talked to Mathew, this bro from a while back, wants to read but didn't know where, so we told him 3 Nephi 11. Couple other things, but so far one of the busiest days in Brevard. 

June 8, 2023

We went to the library to look up some Zillow and somehow got on this kick of looking up Scientology for a sec. That trash don't make any sense. This homeboy spilled Monster all over the front door and walls as we were leaving, which was funny. We went and ate some Taco Bell for lunch, put a little Baja Blast in the old tank. We visited this less active member Brother Lowery, and talked a lot about golfing. He told us how he got hooked on it and started buying all these clubs and stuff. We hit some balls for a while but yeah I still don't see the hype for golf. We'll probably go golfing with him sometime and get him back to church. TONS of old angry Baptists today, it was wild. One bro was like, "Uh I am not interested," as he was laughing and shutting the door, another lady who screamed through her door to go away like three times, but there was this other sweet old lady who was really nice and talked for a minute. Some people out here are loco. Arden was in Brevard so we talked to them for a minute and then went back to the streets. We talked to this one crazy homie who looked and acted exactly the same as Loren from Prominence Natural Stone. Who knows maybe it was Loren. 

June 9, 2023

We had Bread of Life for a couple of hours in the morning. Homie Caleb tried to preach to us how weed is good and God wants him to start a weed church. We tried to do some finding for most of the rest of the day. Elder Tubbs said I have clown hair and he's pretty accurate, I need to get a cut on P-day. Elder McClellan got faded up by a Micronesian, so maybe I can too. We had a good dinner lesson with the Hart's and Miller's. Elder Tubbs and I figured out that they have these concert things on Friday at the library, tonight's was pretty trash, but next week will be better. This is called out-of-the-box finding. After the solid three minutes we were at the concert, we walked around some more. Some drunk mom hit on me, which was cool. She was by her teenage son, who was looking like he wanted to climb into a black hole. All around solid day, though. 

June 10, 2023

Pretty strange day, not gonna lie. We went and helped the Onderdonk's with some yard work for a few hours. Brother Onderdonk cranked his weed-wacker until it worked, handed it to me, and I just went to town for a few hours. I was wearing shorts and every single weed here has fat thorns, so my legs were torn up and I was completely cloaked in straight grass and weeds. Brother Onderdonk is a pretty peculiar guy who loves his toys. He has a Humvee, a sailboat, a couple of trucks, an excavator, a skidster, and bro literally has an airplane. He made sure I didn't get the weeds around the plane because he doesn't want anyone to see it. We went to lunch at the Mills River Restaurant and then we helped them seat a tire on rims. It was so nice to just do some good old fashioned slave work. That service took up the majority of the day, but we got out finding after, and nothing crazy happened. 

June 11, 2023

Brevard Branch service was hype today. After sacrament and Primary, Skyler Onderdonk, this little kid with autism, talked to us about Roblox for like 30 minutes. Sister Powers, the sweet lady we bring sacrament to, hasn't answered for two weeks in a row. We're gonna have to break in, yo. We went over to Alyssa, Leland, and Roy's and had lunch and played some football for a while. After that we pulled up to the Westland's and had a great time with them. 

We had transfer calls tonight and it crippled our district. Elder Tubbs is going to LaNoir City with Elder Percival, Elder McClellan is going to Jamestown with Elder Bluemal and Elder Perles is going to somewhere, I can't remember :'-( . Sad day, but Elder Steiner is coming to Brevard, who served in Lebanon 2nd, my first transfer, and Elder Brown is coming to be a Zone Leader in Hendersonville!!! Let's go BABY! Literally all I wanted was to be in Elder Brown's district for his last transfer. Crazy stuff happening but it's gonna be so sweeeet.
