Week 23: Brevard, NC

Super fun P-day. We hiked to this amazing waterfall today called Rainbow Falls. It's pretty far out there, so Brady, this super sick homie from our ward, took us. He is a 25 year old convert who is a full blown Appalachian man, and he's always got some crazy stories to tell us.
After the hike we went to this massive church building that's literally just a huge gym. The Polynesian Branch uses it but it's just a fat gym disguised as a church building. We hung out there with our district and balled up for a bit. Brother Westlund is trying to help this lady Tamara to join the church slowly, so they have little FHE things and he wanted us to come. We played some board games and stuff. It was pretty boring, not gonna lie. That's all we did today.

Today we had district council with the district, which was good, and then back to finding. We started in Mills River and worked out way down. We met this one super cool lady Nora from New York. We were about to leave a finding spot but decided to give one last shot to a house, and Nora was sitting on the porch. Way cool lady and lesson and we're super excited about it.
Later we had a phone call lesson with Carlos, that went well except some stuff came up. Also for dinner Sister Payne, the sickest lady of all time, took us to this Japanese grill place that was mad tasty. We don't get many members to feed us in Brevard, so it was sweet.

Bunch of more finding, later we pulled up on gangsta Adam Weeks. Bro is like a GTA thug who we're trying to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to. He's super nice though and he's got a drippy fit. Later in the day we had Ward Coordination with President Booth that went well. President Booth is a strange guy, but he's cool. Carlos is a bit of a sus boy. That's about as much as I can say, but yeah, it's interesting.

It was a pretty good day. We did a couple things here and there. Tons of finding and we walked Tamara's little puppy. We talked to this homeboy Richard who apparently had five strokes and is recovering. Later we had a lesson with Alyssa, Leland, and Roy that went really good, we read 2 Nephi 31 with them and invited them to work for a date to be baptized. But Alyssa said that they just need a little more time.

We had Bread of Life today, which went well as usual. The people be saying some interesting stuff sometimes, thinking they're funny and I'm just like :| . Some homeless people tell you stuff that you don't really care about and which you didn't just hear.
Crazy thing though, Alyssa texted us and said that they want to set a date to be baptized at the end of the month. It's so awesome that they flipped that switch, Alyssa has been hesitant for a long while but she's ready now!
We had a lesson with this Filipino member family, the Vispera's. They are really awesome, the husband Ricky is an interesting bro, he's mad funny though. They've been going through some hard times so it was great to be there with them. Also they had a friend over who was an Evangelical Christian or something but she wanted a Priesthood blessing, so that was interesting.
Later did some finding at a secret government facility and some more finding after that. We went to a drive-in fast food place called Cardinal's, which was dope. Super good burgers, also lots of old people.

We're trying to get creative with how we find people because knocking on doors for six hours with no success isn't doing it. We went to the library and looked up some new move-ins on Zillow. This idea came from Elder McClellan and it was actually not bad. Then we helped Sister Harris clean out her car and she gave us a huge basket filled with food. I can't remember what else, I think we did more finding to finish out.

Great church today with the Brevard Branch. Sister Payne gave a great talk on Mother's Day, and then Brother Baker gave kind of a creepy talk on Mother's Day. I don't know what it is, but bro unsettles me. We helped out in Primary again and made some sick Mother's Day cards with the kids.
Later we went over to the Jones' house with Alyssa, Leland, and Roy and had a supa heat dinner. After we ate, we taught them about the Word of Wisdom, which went way good. They didn't really have problems with anything besides tea, but they are fine to ditch it.
