Week 3: Provo MTC

December 19, 2022

It was a pretty dope day. We had some classes and meetings. One thing that was really awesome that I hadn't really noticed before were these huge murals in this one building. There are two on each floor in the main building and they depict stories from the scriptures. They are actually so cool. For instance, there is one that depicts Moses parting the Red Sea. You can sit there and read the stories and look at these beautiful pictures. I'll send photos but they are super dope.

Today was a day I hope I remember for a while. We had some nice glasses. I was going to cross that out, but let me explain myself. Every time I write in my journal I am also talking to the other elders about random stuff and I always write that down on accident. I was meaning to write 'classes' but I wrote 'glasses'. It sounds super stupid but I've done the exact same thing like three days in a row and now it's kind of funny. Anyways, we had some nice classes and some decent meals today. We had a nice s-tier meal, spicy chicken sandwiches and fries. We also had another choir practice today. I don't really know why our district keeps showing up to choir because it's kinda iffy. We sang in a devotional today and it was cool. The song we sang wasn't my favorite, but it was pretty cool. The Young Women's president Bonnie Cordon came and spoke to us. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't really get much out of it, but it was good.

We sang Peace in Christ at the end as like 1500 missionaries, and it was actually crazy. I think that's the strongest I've felt the Spirit in a while. It helped me realize that what I am doing is very important and the best thing I could do in my life. I am so grateful I am here and I'm grateful for my district. I'm doing this out of my love for Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. It has been so hard, but I feel like I am growing. I am just trying to have faith in Jesus Christ, and so far I fell like I am progressing fast.

We had another pretty awesome day today. We had class which went well. We do a lot of role-play which I kind of hate honestly. It's probably good for me but I don't know. Sometimes you get to the end of the day and you know it was a good day, but you can't remember anything. Something funny though. This elder has a Washington flag because that's where he's going, and some bozo elders wrote on it. They wrote something [not so great on it] in Cantonese. This one elder in our district translated it and the other elder whose flag it was got super mad. Other than that we balled up and did some other lit stuff. We had this little snowball fight and this sister in our district got domed in the head which was pretty funny. Nah just kidding it was bad, not. I've been missing music bad, but we out here.

Today was a great p-day but it was also a little tough. We did our laundry finally and just chilled and played some ping pong and foosball. We also had an opportunity to do endowments at the Timpanogos Temple. It was a really great experience. We finally got to escape the prison of the MTC. We also played some more ball which was fun.

Later this one elder, Elder Brown, started feeling sick and almost passed out. He said his left arm was hurting and numb and he felt pretty bad. He's had a cold for the past week at the MTC, which is bad because it might be getting worse. Anyways we rushed him to the info desk where they called a doctor to come. They said we could leave but like five minutes later we got a text saying they were rushing him to the Urgent Care. It was pretty tough so we said a lot of good prayers as a district. Also earlier in the week Elder Loveland and Elder Poole gave him a Priesthood blessing, so we're hoping for the best.

We had our last classes today with our teachers. Brother De Le Brare was our morning teacher and Sister Gladding was the afternoon teacher. They were both so awesome. We also had a teacher named Sister Hunter for a while until she went to Jerusalem a couple days ago. All of our teachers were super sick. We had a s-tier dinner again today. It was orange chicken and rice, and then enchiladas, Mexican rice, and beans. Pretty fire.

Later in the day we had a super great discussion with our district. Then after, we found a nice room with a piano and jammed out. We got talking about some pretty deep stuff and learned a lot more about each other. All I can really say is some people got some insane life stories.

We have been trying to feast on our fat stash of candy and treats and stuff but there is literally so much. Our district has like 2000 metric tons of straight loot that we're trying to consume. Tomorrow is Christmas eve, which is weird because I think I just barely realized that. Pretty sick I guess.

December 24, 2022

We had a morning devotional which was good and then our last classes for the MTC where we had a little testimony thing. Later we got to listen to this music performance. I think they were called the Jenny Oaks family or something. It was super cool though. There was an insane violinist, insane cellist, and insane guitarist. Pretty sick, they just played a bunch of Christmas songs. Later we had MTC Got Talent, which was pretty dusty. It was like 3 hours long and Silent Night was performed probably five times. There was a couple of really awesome acts though. This one elder played guitar and sung and then another elder was crazy at piano. After we got through the talent show we had this little secret Santa exchange for our district. The elder that got me gifts gave me some cans of soda and other stuff, but he chucked it at me and it absolutely exploded. It was nice getting drowned in Cactus Cooler. Nah it was super funny though. It was a good Christmas Eve.

December 25, 2022

Merry Christmas. It's weird waking up on Christmas and not doing the same thing I've done for the past 18 years. We opened our presents, which was super fun. I got a small frog Squishmallow which might be the best gift I've ever gotten. We had a devotional where Elder Gary E. Stevenson came and spoke to us. It was really awesome. He talked about the gifts Christ gives to us. We had a good rest of the day and had some cool music performances and devotionals. I can't really remember all the specifics because I'm writing this on the 26th of Dec and I have a bad memory.
